Samara Joy is a contemporary jazz vocalist rapidly gaining recognition for her interpretations of classic jazz standards and original compositions. Her style is deeply rooted in the tradition of vocalists like Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday, characterized by a rich, velvety tone, impeccable phrasing, and scat singing ability. She frequently performs with ensembles featuring piano, bass, drums, and guitar, creating a warm and intimate atmosphere reminiscent of mid-20th century jazz clubs. Joy’s recent Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Album demonstrates growing critical acclaim.

The National Palace of Culture (NDK) in Sofia, Bulgaria, serves as the venue for this concert. Constructed between 1978 and 1981, it was commissioned to celebrate the 1300th anniversary of Bulgaria's founding. Designed by Bulgarian architect Georgi Spiridonov, the NDK exemplifies socialist modernist architecture with its imposing scale and extensive use of marble and granite. It’s one of the largest conference and cultural centers in Southeastern Europe, hosting a diverse range of events including concerts, exhibitions, conferences, and sporting competitions. The complex includes multiple halls – Hall 1 being the largest – along with outdoor spaces often used for festivals and public gatherings.
