Sam Grisman Project will be performing at The Greek Theatre At UC Berkeley on August 1st, 2026. The Sam Grisman Project blends elements of progressive bluegrass, jazz, and jam band improvisation. Led by mandolinist Sam Grisman – son of legendary Dawg music pioneer David Grisman – the group is known for its energetic performances and instrumental virtuosity, often featuring complex arrangements and extended improvisational sections. Their sound incorporates traditional bluegrass instrumentation with influences from a wide range of genres.

The Greek Theatre at UC Berkeley is an outdoor amphitheater modeled after ancient Greek theaters. Constructed in 1903, it’s located in the wooded Strawberry Canyon on the University of California, Berkeley campus. Originally built as a venue for dramatic performances relating to classical studies, it quickly became a popular concert venue. The theatre has hosted a diverse array of performers throughout its history, including numerous renowned musicians, speakers, and theatrical productions. Its seating capacity is approximately 8,500. The venue is known for its natural acoustics and picturesque setting within the campus landscape. It is owned and operated by Associated Students of the University of California (ASUC).
