The Sam Grisman Project is scheduled to perform at Garcia’s in Chicago, Illinois on November 13, 2026. The project, led by mandolinist Sam Grisman – son of legendary Dawg-style pioneer David Grisman – blends elements of progressive bluegrass, jazz improvisation, and Americana. Their sound frequently incorporates intricate instrumental work and a contemporary approach to traditional acoustic music forms. The band typically features a core lineup including electric guitar, bass, and drums alongside Grisman’s mandolin.
Garcia's is a long-standing live music venue in Chicago with a notable history deeply connected to the Grateful Dead and its extended musical family. Originally established in 1988 by WXRT DJ Richard Milne as “The Wet Willies,” it was renamed Garcia’s in 1991 following an agreement with Jerry Garcia himself. While not directly owned or operated by Garcia, the venue quickly became a prominent hub for jam bands, roots music, and artists favored by the Deadhead community.
Following a closure in 2002, Garcia's was revived in 2014 and relocated to its current location on North Halsted Street.
