Bearsville Theater, located in Woodstock, New York, has a significant history within the American music scene. Originally established in 1989 by Albert Grossman – who also managed Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, and The Band – it quickly became a popular venue for both established and emerging artists. The theater is situated on the grounds of the former Bearsville Studios complex, founded in 1970; a recording facility renowned for albums created by artists such as The Band, Todd Rundgren and many others.
The building itself underwent renovations following damage from flooding in 2011 but continues to operate as a live performance space hosting varied musical genres alongside film screenings and other events.
