Experience Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra live on September 24th
The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra will perform at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam on September 24, 2026. Internationally renowned, the orchestra is celebrated for its distinctive sound – often described as possessing warmth and depth – and its interpretations of both standard repertoire and contemporary works. Historically rooted in the late-Romantic tradition, the orchestra maintains a broad repertoire spanning from Baroque to 21st-century compositions, frequently commissioning new pieces.
The Concertgebouw itself opened in 1888 and is widely considered one of the world’s greatest concert halls, famed for its exceptional acoustics. Designed by Pieter Cuypers, the building’s architecture reflects Dutch Neo-Renaissance style. Its rectangular shape, relatively small volume, and use of specific materials contribute to its lauded sonic qualities; a long reverberation time and clarity across all frequencies are key characteristics. The hall was conceived by a committee of Amsterdam citizens determined to create a dedicated space for symphonic music, initially intended for performances by the Concertgebouw Orchestra (then known as the Concertgebouw’s own orchestra).
