Experience Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra live on August 26th
The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra will perform at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam on August 26, 2026. Internationally renowned, the orchestra is celebrated for its rich, warm string sound and a distinctive European romantic tradition. While performing a broad repertoire spanning from baroque to contemporary works, it consistently receives acclaim for interpretations of late-Romantic and 20th-century composers like Mahler, Strauss, and Stravinsky.
The Concertgebouw itself opened in 1888 and is widely considered one of the world’s greatest concert halls, famed for its exceptional acoustics. Designed by Pierre Cuypers, the hall’s rectangular shape and specific dimensions – notably its height and the ratio between length, width and height – contribute significantly to its renowned sound quality. The interior features elaborate ornamentation reflecting the neo-Renaissance style prevalent at the time of its construction.
Throughout its history, the Concertgebouw has been intrinsically linked with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra; the orchestra has resided there since its founding in 1888 and performs the vast majority of its concerts within the hall.
