Rodrigo y Gabriela are a Mexican acoustic guitar duo renowned for their energetic and virtuosic performances. Their music blends flamenco, rock, and metal influences, characterized by rapid-fire fingerpicking, percussive techniques on the guitar bodies, and complex rhythmic interplay. Initially busking on the streets of Ireland in the late 1990s, they gained popularity through independent releases and word-of-mouth before achieving international recognition.

The Fillmore Detroit, located on Woodward Avenue, has a history rooted in the city’s vibrant music scene. Originally opening as the Paladium in 1926 as a movie palace, it underwent renovations and name changes before becoming The Fillmore in 1988. It is part of the Live Nation network of venues and is known for its intimate setting – holding approximately 2,300 attendees – and excellent acoustics. The venue has hosted numerous prominent artists across various genres throughout its history, establishing itself as a significant stop for touring musicians.
