Rhiannon Giddens is a musician and MacArthur Fellow celebrated for her expansive interpretations of American roots music. Her work skillfully blends elements of folk, blues, jazz, country, and traditional African American music, often focusing on previously marginalized narratives within these genres. Giddens is proficient on the banjo, fiddle, and vocals, employing these to explore themes of history, identity, and social justice.
