Rhiannon Giddens is a musician celebrated for traversing a diverse range of American musical traditions. Her work prominently features banjo and fiddle, but extends to encompass blues, jazz, old-time, gospel, Celtic, and Caribbean music. Giddens often centers her performances and recordings on the contributions of African American musicians to these genres, bringing historical narratives to the forefront alongside virtuosic musicianship. She is a MacArthur Fellow and a Grammy Award winner, recognized for her scholarship as well as her artistry.

The concert will take place at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, Germany on November 28th, 2026. This concert hall is situated in the HafenCity district and is renowned for its striking glass architecture atop an historic warehouse structure – the Kaispeicher A. Construction began in 2007 and was completed in 2017 after significant delays and cost overruns.

The Elbphilharmonie’s central feature is its Grand Hall, designed with a vineyard-style seating arrangement around the stage to provide an intimate connection between performers and audience members. The hall boasts exceptional acoustics achieved through innovative design by Yasuhisa Toyota.
