Rooted in the musical heritage of the South Carolina Lowcountry, Ranky Tanky—a Gullah phrase meaning “work a little harder”—interprets and celebrates African American musical traditions. Their performances often feature original compositions alongside reimagined classics, incorporating elements of spirituals, blues, and jazz improvisation. The group consists of vocalist Quiana Parler, Clay Ross on guitar and vocals, Kevin Hamilton on bass, and Quentin Baxter on drums.

Middle C Jazz is a long-standing intimate listening room dedicated to presenting jazz and related genres. Established in 1987 by John and Anne Baker, it has become a significant venue for both local and nationally recognized jazz musicians. The space is known for its close proximity between performers and audience members fostering an immersive experience.
