The ensemble carries forward the musical legacy of Astor Piazzolla, the Argentine composer and bandoneon player widely regarded as a revolutionary figure in tango. Their music is characterized by a fusion of traditional tango with elements of jazz, classical music, and contemporary improvisation, resulting in a genre often termed “Nuevo Tango.” The quintet typically features bandoneon, violin, piano, double bass and guitar, instruments central to Piazzolla’s compositional style.
The Teatro Romano is an ancient Roman theatre located in Verona. Constructed in the 1st century AD during the reign of Augustus, it originally accommodated approximately 15,000 spectators. The structure is built against the side of the Colle Martiri hill, utilizing its natural slope as part of the seating arrangement. Following periods of disuse and partial destruction, significant restoration work took place during the 20th century. Today it serves as a venue for operas, concerts and theatrical performances during the summer months; its acoustics and historical significance contribute to a unique performance atmosphere.
