Polyrhythmics is a Seattle-based ensemble performing a distinctive blend of instrumental soul, jazz, and funk. Their music is characterized by tight arrangements, complex rhythmic interplay – reflected in their name – and a strong emphasis on improvisation. The band draws influence from 1960s and 70s Ethiopian jazz, Latin boogaloo, and classic American soul music, resulting in a sound that is both vintage-inspired and contemporary. Steinbaugh Pavilion, located within Louisville’s Waterfront Park, is an outdoor performance venue established in 2008.
