Poiesis Quartet will perform at Flagey - Studio 1 in Brussels, Belgium on June 18, 2027. The quartet is recognized for its interpretations of contemporary classical music, often incorporating improvisation and exploring the intersection of composed and spontaneous elements. Their repertoire frequently features works by living composers alongside arrangements of existing pieces, delivered with a focus on textural nuance and dynamic range. Flagey - Studio 1 is a renowned concert hall within the larger Flagey cultural center. Originally constructed as a Maison de la Radio (House of Radio) in the 1930s, designed by architect Joseph Van Neck, it served as a broadcasting studio for the Belgian national radio service, NIR (later BRT/VRT). Following extensive renovations completed in 2002, Flagey reopened as a multi-disciplinary arts center. Studio 1 specifically is valued for its exceptional acoustics and intimate setting, accommodating approximately 200-250 audience members. It continues to host a diverse program of classical music performances, jazz concerts, and other live events. The building itself is considered an important example of modernist architecture in Brussels.
