Louise M. Davies Symphony Hall opened in 1980 and is the permanent home of the San Francisco Symphony. Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the hall is renowned for its excellent acoustics and seating capacity of approximately 2,707. It’s located within the War Memorial Veterans Building complex in the Civic Center district of San Francisco. The hall has hosted a wide range of performances beyond orchestral concerts including ballet, opera, and popular music acts. Its design incorporates elements intended to enhance the auditory experience for both performers and audience members; notably a vineyard-style seating arrangement promoting closer proximity to the stage.
