The State Theatre- Pa, originally known as the Easton Arch Theatre, first opened its doors in 1926 as a Vaudeville house and movie palace. Designed by William H. Lee, it’s an example of atmospheric theatre architecture, intended to evoke a Spanish courtyard setting with ornate detailing and a starlit ceiling. Over the decades it transitioned from primarily film screenings to hosting live performances including concerts, theatrical productions, comedy shows and dance recitals. The theatre underwent significant restoration efforts in the 1980s to preserve its historical features while updating its technical capabilities. It currently operates as a non-profit performing arts center serving the Lehigh Valley region.
