Experience Pablo Contreras live on July 21st
Pablo Contreras, a classical guitarist recognized for his interpretations of both established repertoire and lesser-known works from the 19th and 20th centuries, will perform at the Medieval Castle of Saint Montan on July 21, 2026. His style is often described as nuanced and expressive, demonstrating a particular affinity for Romantic-era compositions alongside contemporary pieces exploring extended techniques. He frequently programs works by composers such as Villa-Lobos and Barrios, alongside his own transcriptions and original compositions.
The Château de Saint-Montan, located in the Dordogne region of France, dates back to the 13th century. Originally a fortress built by the Beynac family, it underwent significant modifications in the 15th and 16th centuries, transitioning from a purely defensive structure to a more comfortable residence. The castle experienced periods of abandonment following the French Revolution but was meticulously restored beginning in the late 20th century by artist Yves Delattre. This restoration wasn’t merely conservation; Delattre integrated his sculptural work directly into the fabric of the building, creating a unique blend of historical architecture and contemporary art.
