Experience Oslo Domkor live on December 12th
Oslo Domkor will perform at Oslo Domkirke (Oslo Cathedral) on December 12, 2026. Oslo Domkor is a chamber choir with a focus on both sacred and secular choral works, spanning from the Renaissance period to contemporary compositions. The choir frequently performs a cappella, but also collaborates with instrumental ensembles. Their repertoire includes works by Norwegian composers alongside internationally renowned pieces, often emphasizing vocal clarity and nuanced interpretation.
Oslo Domkirke, completed in 1697, serves as the main church for the Church of Norway Diocese of Oslo and Akershus, and is the site of royal coronations and weddings. Designed by Jørgen Penne, it is built in a Baroque style with influences from Italian High Renaissance architecture. The cathedral underwent significant restoration in the late 19th and early 20th centuries led by Wilhelm von Hanno, resulting in its current appearance including extensive stained glass work by artists like Emanuel Vigeland. Throughout its history, Oslo Domkirke has been central to important national events and religious life within Norway. The building’s acoustics are particularly well-suited for vocal performances, making it a favored venue for choirs like Oslo Domkor.
