Tickets for Oslo Domkor
Experience Oslo Domkor live on December 11th
Oslo Domkor, established in 1921, is a chamber choir with a repertoire spanning from Renaissance polyphony to contemporary compositions. The choir focuses on a cappella performance, known for its precise intonation and nuanced interpretations of choral works. While frequently performing traditional sacred music, Oslo Domkor also actively commissions and performs new pieces by Norwegian composers, showcasing a commitment to both heritage and innovation within the choral tradition.
The concert will take place at Oslo Domkirke (Oslo Cathedral), the main church for the Church of Norway Diocese of Oslo. Construction of the current cathedral was completed in 1697, though the site has hosted places of worship since the 11th century. Designed in a Baroque style by architect Jørgen Penne, it underwent significant restoration in the 1950s following damage during World War II. The interior features notable artwork including paintings by Edvard Munch and sculptures by Gustav Vigeland. As a national landmark, Oslo Domkirke hosts numerous state occasions and religious ceremonies alongside its regular worship services. Its acoustics are considered particularly well-suited for vocal performance due to its large volume and resonant materials.
