Experience Oslo Domkor live on November 29th
Oslo Domkor, established in 1925, is a highly regarded vocal ensemble specializing in choral music spanning several centuries. Their repertoire frequently includes works from the Renaissance and Baroque periods, alongside significant contributions from the Romantic and contemporary eras. The choir is known for its precise vocal technique, expressive interpretations, and commitment to both a cappella performance and collaborations with instrumental ensembles. They regularly perform both sacred and secular works, often focusing on pieces with strong harmonic and melodic qualities.
The concert will be held within Oslo Domkirke (Oslo Cathedral), the main church of the Church of Norway’s Diocese of Oslo. Originally constructed in 1697, the current building is actually the third church on the site; previous structures dated back to the medieval period. Heavily restored in the 19th century by Wilhelm von Hanno, the cathedral showcases a Neo-Gothic style with significant Art Nouveau influences added during further renovations in the early 20th century. Notably, Oslo Domkirke has hosted numerous state occasions including royal weddings and funerals, solidifying its role as a national symbol of Norway. The cathedral’s acoustics are particularly well-suited for choral performances due to its large volume and resonant interior.
