Experience Oslo Domkor live on September 19th
Oslo Domkor will perform at Oslo Domkirke (Oslo Cathedral) on September 19, 2026. Oslo Domkor is a chamber choir with a tradition of performing both sacred and secular choral music spanning several centuries. Their repertoire frequently includes works from the Renaissance, Baroque, and Romantic periods, alongside contemporary compositions, often showcasing Norwegian composers. The choir is known for its precise vocal technique and nuanced interpretations.
Oslo Domkirke, consecrated in 1697, serves as the main church for the Church of Norway Diocese of Oslo and Akershus and is an important ceremonial site for the Norwegian Royal Family. The current building replaced an earlier medieval cathedral that was damaged by fire. Architecturally, it represents a Baroque style, though it underwent significant renovations in the 1950s led by architect Johan Magnus Koksvik which restored elements of its original design while incorporating modern artistic contributions, including stained glass windows by Victor Sparre. The cathedral’s interior features notable artwork and historical significance relating to Norway’s religious and political history. It holds national importance as a venue for state occasions like royal weddings and funerals.
