Experience Oslo Domkor live on September 12th
Oslo Domkor will perform at Oslo Domkirke (Oslo Cathedral) on September 12, 2026. Oslo Domkor is a chamber choir with a repertoire spanning from Renaissance polyphony to contemporary compositions, frequently focusing on Nordic choral traditions and often incorporating works by Norwegian composers. The choir is known for its precise vocal technique and expressive interpretations.
Oslo Domkirke, completed in 1697, serves as the main church for the Church of Norway Diocese of Oslo. Designed by Jørgen Penne, it was built on the site of earlier churches dating back to the medieval period. The cathedral’s architecture represents Baroque style, though it underwent significant renovations in the 19th and early 20th centuries led by Wilhelm von Hanno and Georg Andreas Bull, resulting in a neo-Gothic interior.
The building features notable artwork including paintings by Edvard Munch – specifically a version of his famous work “The Scream” – and stained-glass windows designed by Emanuel Vigeland. As a national sanctuary, Oslo Domkirke hosts important state occasions and royal ceremonies alongside regular religious services and musical performances. Its acoustics are considered particularly well-suited for choral music.
