Experience Oslo Domkor live on August 29th
Oslo Domkor will perform at Oslo Domkirke (Oslo Cathedral) on August 29, 2026. Oslo Domkor is a chamber choir with a repertoire spanning from Renaissance polyphony to contemporary compositions, frequently focusing on the choral traditions of the Nordic countries and often incorporating works by Norwegian composers. The choir is known for its precise vocal technique and expressive interpretations.
Oslo Domkirke, completed in 1697, serves as the main church for the Church of Norway Diocese of Oslo and Akershus, and a prominent landmark in the city. Designed by architect Jost van Winslo, it was built on the site of several earlier churches dating back to the medieval period. The cathedral exhibits a Baroque architectural style, though it underwent significant restoration in the 1950s following damage sustained during World War II. Its interior features notable artwork including paintings by Edvard Munch and sculptures by Gustav Vigeland. The building’s acoustics are considered particularly well-suited for choral performances due to its size and design. Throughout its history, Oslo Domkirke has been the site of numerous important national ceremonies including royal weddings and funerals.
