Experience Oslo Domkor live on August 22nd
Oslo Domkor, established in 1927, is a chamber choir with a repertoire primarily focused on choral music from the Renaissance to the present day. While deeply rooted in the Lutheran choral tradition, their performances frequently encompass both sacred and secular works, showcasing composers from Norway and internationally. The choir is known for its precise vocal technique and nuanced interpretations, often performing *a cappella* or with instrumental ensembles.
The concert will take place at Oslo Domkirke (Oslo Cathedral), the main church for the Church of Norway’s Diocese of Oslo. Construction of the current cathedral was completed in 1697, though the site has hosted places of worship since the 11th century. The building exhibits a Baroque architectural style, influenced by Italian designs, and underwent significant restoration in the early 20th century led by Wilhelm von Hanno. Notable features include its stained-glass windows and interior artwork by artists like Edvard Munch.
Oslo Domkirke serves as a venue for important national ceremonies including royal weddings and funerals, alongside regular religious services and musical performances. Its acoustics are highly regarded for choral music, making it a favoured location for ensembles such as Oslo Domkor.
