Experience Oslo Domkor live on August 15th
Oslo Domkor will perform at Oslo Domkirke (Oslo Cathedral) on August 15, 2026. Oslo Domkor is a mixed choir with a tradition rooted in the performance of sacred choral music, encompassing works from the Renaissance to contemporary compositions. The choir frequently performs a cappella and with orchestral accompaniment, showcasing a broad repertoire including both established classics and lesser-known pieces within the choral tradition. They are known for their precise vocal technique and expressive interpretations.
Oslo Domkirke, completed in 1697, serves as the main church for the Church of Norway Diocese of Oslo and Akershus, and is the site of royal coronations and weddings. Designed by architect Jost van Winsloew, it replaced an earlier medieval church on the same site. The cathedral exhibits a Baroque architectural style, featuring a distinctive green copper roof and interior ornamentation reflecting periods of renovation throughout its history, notably in the 1950s when significant restoration work was undertaken following damage during World War II. The building’s acoustics are highly regarded for choral performances. It remains an active place of worship alongside its role as a national monument and venue for significant state occasions.
