Experience Oslo Domkor live on August 8th
Oslo Domkor will perform at Oslo Domkirke (Oslo Cathedral) on August 8, 2026. Oslo Domkor is a chamber choir with a repertoire spanning from Renaissance polyphony to contemporary compositions, frequently focusing on the Nordic choral tradition and works by Norwegian composers. The choir is known for its precise vocal technique and expressive interpretations.
Oslo Domkirke, completed in 1697, is the main church for the Church of Norway in the Diocese of Oslo and Akershus. Designed by architect Jørgen Penne, it was built on the site of several earlier churches dating back to the 13th century. The cathedral’s architecture represents Baroque style, though incorporating elements reflecting Norway's history and artistic influences. Significant renovations occurred in the 1950s following damage during World War II, including extensive restoration of the interior artwork – notably murals by Henrik Sørensen.
The cathedral holds national significance as the site of royal coronations, weddings, and funerals. Its acoustics are highly regarded, making it a favoured venue for choral performances and other musical events. The building features a prominent tower and serves as a landmark within Oslo’s cityscape.
