Experience Oslo Domkor live on August 1st
Oslo Domkor will perform at Oslo Domkirke (Oslo Cathedral) on August 1st, 2026. Oslo Domkor is a chamber choir with a tradition of performing both sacred and secular choral music, spanning from the Renaissance period to contemporary compositions. The choir frequently focuses on a cappella works and is known for its precise vocal technique and nuanced interpretations. Their repertoire often includes Norwegian composers alongside internationally recognized masters.
Oslo Domkirke, completed in 1697, serves as the main church for the Church of Norway’s Diocese of Oslo. Designed by Johan Christopher Harsdorff and built on the site of several earlier churches dating back to the 13th century, it represents a significant example of Baroque architecture in Norway. The interior features notable artwork including paintings by Edvard Munch and sculptures by Gustav Vigeland.
The cathedral has been the site of numerous important national events, including royal coronations, weddings, and state funerals. It functions not only as a place of worship but also as a cultural landmark hosting concerts and other public events throughout the year. The building underwent extensive renovations in the early 2000s to address structural issues and preserve its historical integrity.
