Oslo Domkirke, completed in 1697, serves as the main church for the Church of Norway Diocese of Oslo and Akershus and is an important site for national ceremonies. Designed by architect Jørgen Penne, it replaced an earlier medieval cathedral. The building exhibits a Baroque architectural style, with notable features including stained glass windows designed by Emanuel Vigeland and extensive interior paintings by Hugo Larsen. Throughout its history, the cathedral has undergone several renovations and restorations while maintaining its core architectural integrity. It holds significant cultural and historical importance for Norway, hosting royal weddings, funerals of state, and other key national events. The cathedral’s organ is also a prominent feature, regularly utilized in concerts and services.
