Orchestre philharmonique de Radio France is a French symphony orchestra renowned for its interpretations of both standard repertoire and contemporary works. Established in 1939, the orchestra has a history of collaboration with prominent conductors and soloists, and is noted for its commitment to musical innovation alongside its dedication to the core orchestral tradition. Its sound is often described as possessing a distinctive French elegance and clarity.
The concert will take place at Philharmonie de Paris, a major concert hall complex inaugurated in January 2015. Located in the Parc de la Villette, the Philharmonie de Paris was designed by architect Jean Nouvel. It is notable for its modular concert spaces, most prominently the Grande Salle Pierre Boulez, known for its vineyard-style seating arrangement which places the audience close to the performers.
The complex aims to be a national institution dedicated to all musical genres, encompassing classical music, contemporary music, jazz, and world music. Beyond performance spaces, it also houses a museum dedicated to musical instruments ("Musée de la Musique") and educational facilities. The building itself is considered an architectural landmark within Paris.
