Orchestre philharmonique de Radio France is widely recognized as one of France’s leading orchestras, possessing a repertoire spanning from the Baroque period to contemporary compositions. The ensemble is known for its versatility, performing both symphonic standards and actively commissioning new works, often with a focus on French musical heritage. It maintains a strong presence in broadcast performance through its historical connection to Radio France.
The concert will take place at Philharmonie de Paris, opened in January 2015. This venue represents the culmination of a long-held ambition to create a world-class concert hall in Paris, replacing existing facilities that were considered inadequate for modern orchestral needs. Designed by architect Jean Nouvel, the Philharmonie de Paris features a main concert hall – the Grande Salle Pierre Boulez – renowned for its acoustics and vineyard-style seating arrangement which brings the audience closer to the musicians.
The complex also includes smaller performance spaces, exhibition areas and educational facilities dedicated to music. Situated in the Parc de la Villette in the 19th arrondissement, it serves as a significant cultural hub within the city and aims to promote musical accessibility and education alongside showcasing high-caliber performances.
