Orchestre de Paris is renowned for its interpretations of both standard repertoire and contemporary works, encompassing a broad range from the classical and romantic periods through 20th and 21st-century compositions. The orchestra has a history of commissioning new pieces and collaborating with prominent modern composers, maintaining a reputation for technical precision and expressive performances. Founded in 1967, it has held residencies at various Parisian venues before establishing the Philharmonie de Paris as its primary home.

The Philharmonie de Paris, inaugurated in 2015, is a significant cultural institution dedicated to music. Designed by architect Jean Nouvel, the complex features a main concert hall, “La Grande Salle”, celebrated for its exceptional acoustics achieved through a ‘vineyard’ style seating arrangement surrounding the stage. This design aims to create intimacy between performers and audience members regardless of seat location.

Beyond La Grande Salle, the Philharmonie includes smaller performance spaces, exhibition areas, educational facilities, and a music museum dedicated to French musical heritage – the Cité de la Musique.
