Prince’s Island Park is a 20-hectare (50-acre) urban park situated in the Bow River in the heart of Calgary. Originally known as Eau Claire Island, its history dates back to its designation as a natural reserve in 1906 by the City of Calgary. Significant landscaping and development occurred throughout the 20th century, transforming it into a public park officially renamed Prince’s Island Park in 1947 to honour members of the British Royal Family who visited the city.
