Leeds Conservatoire, situated in the heart of Leeds, has a long history rooted in musical education within the city. Originally established in 1905 as the Leeds College of Music, it became part of Leeds City Council in 1920 and gained conservatoire status in 2004. In 2018, it officially joined the Conservatoire family alongside BIMM (British and Irish Modern Music Institute). The institution is known for its specialist facilities including recording studios, performance spaces and a substantial music library.
