Reading Abbey Ruins represent the remains of Reading Abbey, founded by Henry I in 1121. Following the Dissolution of the Monasteries under Henry VIII in 1539, the abbey was largely demolished. Today, the ruins are a Scheduled Ancient Monument and Grade I listed building managed by Reading Borough Council.
