Norrköping Symphony Orchestra is a professional orchestra with a broad repertoire spanning from the classical canon to contemporary works, frequently commissioning and performing music by Swedish composers. De Gerrhallen, the venue for the October 1st, 2026 concert, holds significant historical importance to Norrköping. Originally constructed in 1903-1904 as a power station providing electricity for the city’s textile industry, it played a crucial role in Norrköping’s industrial development during its period as a major textile center. The building ceased functioning as a power station in the 1980s and underwent extensive renovation in the early 2000s.

Following restoration, De Gerrhallen was repurposed as a multi-functional cultural space. Its industrial architecture – featuring high ceilings, exposed brickwork, and large windows – has been preserved, creating a unique acoustic environment and visual aesthetic suitable for concerts and other events.
