Noel and Maria are a vocal and instrumental duo specializing in Brazilian jazz, often incorporating elements of samba, bossa nova, and choro. Their performances feature sophisticated harmonies, intricate guitar work by Noel, and Maria’s expressive vocals – frequently in Portuguese alongside English – creating a sound rooted in tradition yet possessing a contemporary feel. They have released several albums to critical acclaim within the Brazilian jazz community and tour internationally.

Middle C Jazz is a long-standing intimate listening room located in Charlotte, North Carolina. Established in 1987 by Jim Noble, it has become a significant venue for both local and nationally recognized jazz musicians. The club is known for its dedication to acoustic jazz performances and its supportive environment for artists. It consistently hosts a diverse range of jazz styles, including straight-ahead, bebop, Latin jazz, and vocal jazz. Middle C Jazz intentionally maintains a small capacity—approximately 75 seats—to foster close interaction between performers and audience members.
