Kloster Eberbach is a former Cistercian monastery located in the Rheingau region of Germany. Founded in 1136, it operated as a functioning monastery for over 800 years until its secularization in 1803 during the Napoleonic Wars. The complex showcases Romanesque and Gothic architectural styles and is particularly noted for its well-preserved medieval wine cellar, one of the largest in Europe. Following secularization, it served various purposes including a Prussian forestry academy and a psychiatric hospital before undergoing extensive restoration.
