Experience New York Philharmonic live on October 9th
The New York Philharmonic will perform at the Philharmonie de Paris on October 9, 2026. The New York Philharmonic, founded in 1842, is internationally renowned for its interpretations of standard orchestral repertoire as well as its commitment to contemporary music. Historically, the orchestra has been a champion of American composers and is known for a rich, powerful sound often associated with the Romantic tradition, while also demonstrating versatility across musical periods.
The Philharmonie de Paris, inaugurated in January 2015, is a modern concert hall complex designed by Jean Nouvel. It serves as a major venue for classical music in Paris and France. The complex features two main halls: the Grande Salle Philharmonie with its adjustable acoustics—allowing for performances ranging from symphonic works to amplified music—and the smaller Salle de Découvertes aimed at educational and experimental performances. The building’s design incorporates a ‘cloud’ of reflective panels above the stage in the Grande Salle, contributing to its unique acoustic properties. It replaced the former concert hall of the same name which existed from 1984-2014 and aims to be a national center dedicated to all musical genres.
