Nepenthes, a musical project centered around Australian artist James Cecil, will be performing at Bar Open in Fitzroy, Melbourne on August 12th, 2026. Bar Open is a long-standing live music venue located on Gertrude Street in Fitzroy, known for its intimate setting and focus on alternative and independent artists. Established in 1999, it has become a significant fixture of Melbourne's live music scene, particularly noted for supporting experimental music, noise, improvisation, and left-field electronic acts. The venue’s aesthetic is deliberately raw and unpolished, prioritizing sound quality and artist experience over elaborate presentation. It frequently hosts both local and international performers across various genres fitting its curatorial focus. It's capacity is approximately 100 people.
