The Uptown Theater originally opened in 1929 as a lavish movie palace during the height of the atmospheric theatre movement. After periods of decline and closure throughout the late 20th century, the theater underwent extensive restoration completed in 2017. It now functions as a multi-purpose venue hosting concerts, theatrical performances, comedy shows and other live events while retaining many of its original architectural features.
