Nectar Woode is a New Zealand-born, Brooklyn-based musician known for a distinctive sound blending elements of jazz, soul, and psychedelic funk. The Vanguard is a live music venue located in Newtown, New South Wales, Australia. Originally established as a theatre in the early 20th century – initially known as the Newtown Social & Political Club – it underwent significant renovations in the 1990s to transform into its current form as a dedicated performance space. The venue is recognised for its intimate setting and focus on showcasing diverse musical genres including jazz, blues, roots, and contemporary Australian acts. It maintains a reputation for supporting both emerging and established artists. The Vanguard’s interior retains some of its historical architectural features alongside modern sound and lighting systems. It’s capacity is approximately 200 patrons standing or 120 seated.
