NDR Bigband is a German big band renowned for its diverse repertoire encompassing jazz, swing, Latin, funk, and contemporary compositions. Established in 1948, the ensemble has a long tradition of collaborating with internationally acclaimed musicians and composers, consistently pushing the boundaries of big band music while maintaining a commitment to its historical roots. They are affiliated with Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR), the public broadcaster for Northern Germany.

The concert on September 19th, 2026 will be held at Großer Sendesaal (Large Broadcasting Hall) in Hanover. This venue is historically significant as the main concert hall of Nordwestdeutscher Rundfunk (NWDR), the predecessor to NDR. Opened in 1952, it was designed with a focus on acoustic excellence for radio broadcasts and live performances.

Großer Sendesaal underwent extensive renovation and modernization completed in 2017, enhancing both its acoustic properties and technical capabilities while preserving its original architectural character. The hall is known for its warm sound and intimate atmosphere despite its considerable size, making it a favored location for orchestral recordings and performances across various genres – not exclusively jazz or big band music.
