Mwalim Daphunkee Professor will be performing at Wing’s Court in New Bedford, Massachusetts on July 18, 2026. Mwalim, born Reginald D. James, is a multi-instrumentalist and educator known for his unique blend of funk, jazz, soul, and world music – often described as “Global Funk.” His performances frequently incorporate elements of spoken word and historical commentary, drawing connections between African diasporic music traditions and contemporary sounds. He is also recognized for his work with the band The Cosmic Nomads.

Wing’s Court is a historic cobblestone pedestrian walkway located in New Bedford’s downtown area.
