Münchner Rundfunkorchester (Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra) is renowned for its versatility, performing a broad repertoire spanning from baroque to contemporary works. While possessing a strong foundation in the German Romantic tradition – particularly composers like Wagner and Strauss – the orchestra regularly engages with 20th and 21st-century compositions, and frequently collaborates with artists across diverse musical genres. The orchestra is known for its precision, rich tonal palette, and commitment to both established masterpieces and innovative projects.
Herz-Jesu-Kirche (Sacred Heart Church) in Munich is a late Gothic Revival church completed in 1890-93 by architect Georg von Hauberrisser. It was built on the site of a former Jesuit church destroyed by fire. Notably, the church’s interior features extensive mosaics designed by Jan Heckenberger, representing scenes from the life of Christ and various saints. Its acoustics are considered particularly well-suited to choral and orchestral performances due to its architectural design and spaciousness. The church has become a recognized venue for musical events within Munich’s cultural landscape, hosting concerts throughout the year alongside its religious functions. The building survived damage during World War II but underwent subsequent restoration work.
