The Münchner Kammerorchester will perform at the Prinzregententheater in Munich on April 22, 2027. The orchestra is renowned for its historically informed performance practice, often specializing in music from the Baroque to early Romantic periods. While capable of performing a broad repertoire, they are particularly celebrated for their clarity of sound, dynamic range, and chamber-music-like precision – characteristics fostered by a long tradition of playing without a traditional conductor for significant periods of its history. The ensemble frequently collaborates with leading soloists and explores lesser-known works alongside established masterpieces.

The Prinzregententheater, inaugurated in 1903, holds a significant place in Munich’s cultural history. Commissioned by Prince Regent Luitpold of Bavaria, it was initially designed as a showcase for operetta and light opera – notably becoming closely associated with the works of Franz Lehár and Oscar Straus. Architecturally, it represents a late Historicist style with Art Nouveau influences. Though it continues to host operettas and musicals, the theater also accommodates orchestral concerts and other performances, benefiting from excellent acoustics and an intimate setting that seats approximately 1400 people.
