Münchner Kammerorchester (Munich Chamber Orchestra) is renowned for its historically informed performance practice and stylistic flexibility, encompassing a broad repertoire from Baroque to contemporary music. While maintaining a core focus on chamber orchestral works, the ensemble is celebrated for its clarity of sound, nuanced interpretations, and collaborations with prominent soloists. Founded in 1957 by Wolfgang Schneiderhan, the orchestra deliberately avoids a fixed conductor, instead prioritizing musical leadership within the ensemble itself.

The performance on October 15, 2026 will take place at the Prinzregententheater in Munich. Opened in 1903, the Prinzregententheater was commissioned by Prince Regent Luitpold of Bavaria as a venue for opera and operetta – specifically intended as a smaller, more intimate alternative to the larger Bavarian State Opera. Architect Max Littmann designed the theatre in a distinctive Art Nouveau style, incorporating elements inspired by ancient Greek and Roman architecture. It quickly became known for its excellent acoustics and lavish interior design.
