Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is recognised for its broad repertoire encompassing core orchestral works from the Baroque period through to contemporary compositions, with a particular emphasis on Australian music and innovative programming. The orchestra frequently commissions new works and collaborates with diverse artists across genres. Established in 1906, it is one of Australia’s leading symphony orchestras, known for its high artistic standards and community engagement.

The concert on June 25, 2026 will be held at Arts Centre Melbourne. Originally known as the Victorian Arts Centre, it opened in 1984 as a major performing arts complex intended to consolidate Melbourne’s cultural institutions. The complex comprises multiple venues including Hamer Hall (the primary concert hall for the MSO), the State Theatre, Playhouse, Fairfax Studio and various galleries and spaces.

Designed by architects Lloyd, Lyon, and Partners in collaboration with Daryl Jackson Architects, the Arts Centre features a distinctive spire which has become an iconic element of Melbourne’s skyline. It hosts a wide range of performances including music, theatre, dance, opera and ballet, alongside exhibitions and events. The building underwent significant renovations completed in 2023 to modernize facilities and improve accessibility.
