Experience Melbourne Chamber Orchestra live on July 12th

Melbourne Chamber Orchestra (MCO) presents a concert at Melbourne Recital Centre on July 12, 2026. The MCO is recognised for its dynamic and innovative approach to chamber music, frequently performing works spanning the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic periods alongside contemporary compositions. The ensemble is known for its flexible instrumentation – typically ranging from soloists to around fifteen players – allowing for nuanced interpretations and intimate performances. They often collaborate with both established and emerging Australian artists.

Melbourne Recital Centre, opened in 2009, is a purpose-built concert hall dedicated to classical music and related genres. It was designed by Kerry Hill Architects and features three primary performance spaces: the Premier Hall (Sally Mara Auditorium), the Elisabeth Murdoch Hall, and the smaller Salon. The Centre aims to provide an optimal acoustic environment for both performers and audiences. Prior to its construction, Melbourne lacked a dedicated recital space of this calibre; previously concerts of this nature were held in larger venues not specifically designed for chamber music or vocal performance. The Centre hosts over 300 events annually and is situated within Southbank Arts Precinct.
