Lebreton Flats is a 60-acre parcel of land situated west of downtown Ottawa, along the Ottawa River. Historically, it was a vibrant, but largely working-class, neighbourhood demolished in the 1960s under the justification of urban renewal. This demolition led to significant displacement of residents, including a substantial Franco-Ottawan population.

For decades following the clearances, the area remained largely vacant, becoming a subject of various redevelopment proposals, few of which materialized. It currently serves as a multi-use space primarily hosting large-scale events like concerts and festivals, alongside some light industrial use and parkland. Recent plans indicate a longer-term vision for mixed-use residential, commercial, and recreational development of the Flats.
