Mavis Staples is scheduled to perform at The Momentary in Bentonville, Arkansas on July 30, 2026. Staples’s music blends gospel, soul, rhythm and blues, and pop influences, rooted in her decades-long career. She initially gained prominence as the lead singer of The Staple Singers alongside her father and siblings, achieving significant success in the 1960s and 70s with civil rights anthems and crossover hits. Throughout her solo career, she has continued to release critically acclaimed albums and tour extensively, earning numerous awards including a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. The Momentary is a satellite space of Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, dedicated to contemporary art with a focus on visual, performing, and culinary arts. Housed within a decommissioned Kraft cheese factory dating back to 1948, the space underwent extensive renovations before opening in February 2020. The building’s industrial architecture is a defining characteristic of the venue. It aims to be a multidisciplinary space for creativity – offering exhibitions, artist residencies, live performances and community engagement programs.
