The hall’s current neo-classical appearance dates primarily from the late 19th century restorations led by Gabriel von Seidl.

Herkulessaal is celebrated for its excellent acoustics and ornate architectural details including frescoes depicting scenes from Greek mythology – hence the name referencing Hercules – and lavish stucco work.
